Hayle Engineering is looking for a qualified and experienced Lathe Machinist with a relevant technical or vocational
Qualification
- Education: Technical or vocational qualification in General Metal Fabrication, Machining, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant work experience in lathe machine operation.
- Additional Advantage: Experience in manufacturing machine parts and working from engineering drawings
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lathe machines to manufacture, shape, and finish metal components according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, measurements, and machining instructions.
- Set up machines, select appropriate cutting tools, and adjust machine settings.
- Perform turning, facing, threading, boring, drilling, and other machining operations.
- Measure and inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges.
- Ensure the accuracy, quality, and dimensional tolerance of machined parts.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report any mechanical problems.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized working area.
Required Skills
- Practical experience in operating conventional lathe machines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Knowledge of metal cutting tools, machining processes, and materials.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to perform accurate machining operations within specified tolerances.
- Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of workshop safety procedures.
